Introducing our new general manager Lawrence!
We are really pleased to welcome Lawrence Banks, our new General Manager. Lawrence took up the position last week, and you’ll see him serving, and directing all our front-of-house operations. He has joined us from Rosemarino in Clifton, where he has been their general manager for the last couple of years. He has also lived in Melbourne, Australia and worked at the Hammer & Tong and Piqueos, both well-regarded restaurants. He has a Level 3 WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) qualification, so there isn’t a lot he doesn’t know about wines. He is the guy to ask if you need help in selecting an appropriate wine with your meal, or just want to discuss the merits of the one you have chosen to complement the flavours of your food.
When he is not working, Lawrence likes nothing better than eating out at other restaurants and enjoying the music scene around Bristol. Apart from NMG and Rosemarino, his favourite restaurants also include Wallfish Bistro and Soukitchen. In terms of music, he is a great fan of Bonobo and other electronic acts – we might have to keep him away from the restaurant playlist!
We look forward to Lawrence becoming a key member of the NMG team, contributing to the experience you have at our restaurant, and developing our drinks offering with even more interesting, and unusual wines and spirits.
